net impact's Story

Our founders created Yale Undergraduate Net Impact with the mission of exposing Yale students to social entrepreneurship. Net Impact is an international organization with over 30,000 members and 300 chapters worldwide that focuses on bridging the gap between the business world and the social sector. While Yale’s School of Management has one of the leading chapters in the country, Yale College was, until recently, lacking on any outlet for social enterprise.
Yale College's chapter of Net Impact was founded in Fall 2012 by Kara, Schuyler and Kaity. They've grown the organization on a few core principles:

past board members

Board Member 2012-3 I am a Chemical Engineering major and part of the newly established Energy Studies program. As such, my main interest is in green, alternative, and renewable energy system development. Outside of Net Impact I spend most of my time playing for the Yale Men's Rugby Club.

TRUMBULL 2015 I am Ethics, Politics & Economic student who is passionate about technology and innovation. I enjoy fast-paced, difficult situations and working with awesome people--which is why I love our team at Net Impact :). My favorite part of building our chapter is the lack of established norms. It's exciting to figure out what exactly are the best ways to achieve our mission.

TRUMBULL 2015 I am Political science major interested in innovation and efficiency in the social sector and in public-private partnerships. My experience is mostly in international development and government. I love salsa dancing and baking desserts!

SAYBROOK 2015 I am a Humanities major interested in market-based solutions to poverty and international development. My experience centers on social enterprise and consulting for mission-driven organizations. Besides Net Impact, I enjoy editing videos, baking muffins, and sun salutations.

Board Member 2013 I am an Ethnicity, Race, and Migration major interested in urban development, particularly in slums. My interest and experience are in human centered design and international development, as well as some corporate social responsibility.

Board Member 2013 I am a Humanities major interested in market-based solutions to poverty and international development. My experience centers on social enterprise and consulting for mission-driven organizations. Besides Net Impact, I enjoy editing videos, baking muffins, and sun salutations.

Board Member 2013 I am a prospective double major in Economics and Neurobiology, and I joined Net Impact after being captivated by its mission to help, promote, and establish socially responsible companies. I love singing, spicy food, and crazy ideas.

PIERSON 2016 I am a Cognitive Science major interested in applying insights from psychology and behavioral economics to drive social impact. Specializing in choice architecture, I hope to "nudge" organizations to adopt stronger Corporate Social Responsibility programs and refocus on a social mission. Besides Net Impact, I am an aspiring novelist, a perspiring martial artist, a hopeful marathoner, and a hopeless dreamer.

SILLIMAN 2016 I am an English major interested in the intersection of the private and public sectors and the ways in which socially minded institutions can be used to drive positive change. My experience has largely been in consulting for organizations with strong social missions. In my free time I enjoy reading in the sunshine, Super Smash Brothers and imitating accents.
