Date: Saturday, April 11th, 2-5pm Location: WLH 116 Description: Have an idea that will help better connect Yalies with the local New Haven community? Compete in Pitch for New Haven and win $500! Yale is often viewed as existing in a separate sphere from New Haven. While many great programs like Dwight Hall already provide volunteer opportunities to Yalies, we want to hear your ideas for ventures that will aid Yale's community service efforts.

Date: April 18, 2015 Location: Yale campus, New Haven Description: Think Social brings together undergraduate and graduate students, world fellows, and professors at Yale University to discuss the opportunities in social impact across sectors. It is a space for exchange and inspiration. For this semester, Think Social will focus on micro finance and micro loans in the local, national, and global landscapes.

Date: February 10, 2015 Location: Yale campus, New Haven Description: Up to Us is a nationwide campus competition that aims to educate students about our long-term national debt and what their generation can do to have a voice in raising awareness of our fiscal challenges. The Yale Net Impact Team organized an on-campus scavenger hunt for Yale students to discover relevant and digestible facts about the national debt. The Team ranked 10 out of 50 in the nation.

Kiva Zip

Date: permanent Location: Yale campus, New Haven Description: The Kiva Zip Trustee Team works to empower New Haven small businesses through facilitating 0% crowd-funded, microloans via the Kiva Zip website. The team has been contacting local business and forging partnerships with small business hubs through the city and other organizations to find potential borrowers. The highlight of Kiva Zip Yale’s successes so far has been the full repayment of its first loan to a hydroponics farm.
